while the idea of growing up to become an astronaut and some day do her very own walk on the moon's surface seemed alluring at first, sabrina cooper had already at a very young age decided what road she wanted to embark on. she was born in huntington beach, california on january 13, 1990 and would go on to be the second of three children. her father and grandfather before him had been cops and sabrina idolized them both, having been a bit of a tomboy growing up and eventually wanting to go into the field herself. upon graduating from huntington beach high school she enrolled at california state university in long beach where she majored in criminal justice. her plans after she received her degree were to enter the police academy in hopes of securing a position as a police officer and one day becoming a homicide detective in due time. but the plans she had been so hellbent on throughout her life became more of an uncertainty as she began to explore other ventures, terrified of the real world and unsure of whether she had simply been setting herself up for failure all along. this lead her to a series of dead end retail jobs and a stint at starbucks, leaving her to wonder what became of the eager girl who never took no for an answer and made things happen one way or the other.
after a series of unfortunate events and a long hard look at the life she had led up to then, sabrina realized some chances had to be taken and changes were to be made. with the help of her father and his connections she scored a job as a huntington beach police department records clerk. it wasn't exactly her dream job but it was a hell of a lot closer to it and it certainly wasn't starbucks. these days she's keen on making changes in her life for the better, accepting the things she simply cannot change, working on maintaining a close relationship with her siblings who mean the world to her, and living her life one day at a time. she still resides in her hometown which she hasn't ever been away from for a considerable amount of time aside from vacations, ultimately not really planning on it leaving anytime soon. she shares a house with her boyfriend, the baby nephew he's raising as his own, and her french bulldog, maximilian theodore cooper.... max for short. though having grown up a bit tomboyishly and admiring all the men in her life, these days she's a shamelessly girly germaphobe, mushy romantic, and loyal friend who very rarely leaves her home without at least lipstick and a few thousand coats of mascara on.
•• sabrina wouldn’t ever claim to have a perfect life but what she had was certainly close to it. in the summer of 2014, after six months of dating, she married kevin shaw in an impromptu las vegas ceremony without telling a soul until after the fact. things had fallen into place and sabrina had little doubt that things would only get better. life, in fact, had a much different plan and in time a series of events would unfold which would lead her to doubt whether there had been any point to the last few months of her life. kevin had been a police officer for the hbpd and they had met through work when sabrina was hired as a records clerk. after an incident on the job, he decided an occupation change was in order and coupled with the grief of losing his nephew’s custody to the child’s birth mother things began to sour. kevin became distant and sabrina became unsure if he was still the man she had married. they eventually separated, sabrina going back to live with her parents while she figured out her next move. logically, it’d be to finally divorce kevin after a long few months of complete estrangement, but she couldn’t bear to completely cut ties with the man she still loved with every little bit of her. in time she’d muster the courage to serve him with the divorce papers which he refused to sign and instead proposed they worked to salvage what little was left of their relationship.
after a few months of getting back together and giving their marriage a second chance, they decided to move in hopes of a fresh start. they’d go on to find themselves across the country in new york city, sharing an apartment in hell’s kitchen with no trace of what their lives had been like just a few months prior when things were at their worst. the hardest part was leaving the one place she had called home her entire life, her family, and the older brother who had been her most faithful best friend. sabrina found employment within her previous occupation, now hired as a 911 dispatcher for the nypd. slowly but surely things are once again falling into place and looking up for the couple who are now almost two years into their relationship and in the midst of planning a real wedding long after their hasty elopement. while children aren’t exactly in the plans just yet, there’s no doubt at all that sabrina one day looks forward to starting a family with her husband and finally grabbing a firm hold on the happiness they both deserve.
